Levels of the Plate Process Operator Position
Levels will be determined based on education, experience and equivalents.
- Plate Process Operator I – PPOI
This is the beginning level. The employee works in a learning capacity performing a range of plate processing duties while receiving close supervision. Formerly known as parts cleaner, sawyer 1, burn table operator trainee, or press brake operator trainee. Experience of two (2) years or less with ¾ inch up to 2-inch thick steel using equipment such as press brake 1250t-330t, burn tables/plasma cutting machines, hydraulic cutting saws, mills, drills, cutting torches to cut, bend, form, and clean production parts for steel fabrication.
- Plate Process Operator II – PPOII
This is the intermediate level. The employee works in a developing capacity with increased responsibility for performing a range of plate processing machine set up, layout, and operation; typically will receive limited supervision. Minimum two (2) years’ experience with ¾ inch up to 2-inch thick steel using equipment such as press brake 1250t-330t, burn tables/plasma cutting machines, hydraulic cutting saws, mills, drills, cutting torches to cut, bend, form, and clean production parts for steel fabrication.
- Plate Process Operator III – PPOIII
This is the experienced level. The employee performs a full range of plate processing machine set up, layout, and operation including troubleshooting, quality control and uses considerable independent judgment to interpret and apply work guidelines with considerable latitude to specific situations. Minimum four (4) years’ experience with ¾ inch up to 2-inch thick steel using equipment such as press brake 1250t-330t, burn tables/plasma cutting machines, hydraulic cutting saws, mills, drills, cutting torches to cut, bend, form, and clean production parts for steel fabrication.
