Estimator

Your new company Hays is partnering with a well-established and growing general contractor in the Howard County, MD area that specializes in government, IDIQ, commercial, and institutional construction projects throughout the region. Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they are seeking an Estimator with approximately 3+ years of experience to join their pre-construction team. This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator looking to develop their career while working on diverse and challenging projects ranging from $5M to $20M. Project types include Government Construction, IDIQ Contracts, and Commercial projects.

Your new role

• Prepare accurate conceptual and detailed estimates for a variety of projects
• Review plans, specifications, and bid documents
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing
• Participate in bid reviews and proposal preparation
• Assist with quantity takeoffs and cost analysis
• Support pre-construction efforts throughout the project life cycle
• Work closely with project management and operations teams

What you'll need to succeed

• 3+ years of estimating experience within the construction industry
• Experience working for a General Contractor preferred
• Candidates from a strong specialty subcontractor background will also be considered
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office
