Original job description
Junior Financial Advisor Location: Paducah, Kentucky, in office Compensation: $60,000 to $80,000 until licensed, with a material increase once licensed. Compensation is negotiable for candidates who already hold their licenses. About the Role Our Paducah firm has served clients since 1999. We are adding a Junior Financial Advisor who will learn the practice alongside our founding advisor and grow into a lead role. Our clients come from blue collar backgrounds, and they want an advisor who speaks plainly and understands how they earned what they have. The founder is looking for someone who can eventually carry the practice forward, which is an opportunity most firms cannot offer someone early in their career.
Responsibilities
- Meet with clients to discuss Social Security timing, retirement income, and retirement account strategy
- Plan tax efficient withdrawals, such as deciding which accounts to draw from when a client wants to make a large purchase
- Evaluate Roth conversion opportunities and determine how much to convert in a given year
- Conduct Medicare reviews, including drug plan comparisons and beneficiary reviews
- Build lasting client relationships and explain complex topics in everyday language
- Pursue the licenses required to advise clients, with the firm's support
Our operations team handles client paperwork, so advisors spend their time with clients and on solving their problems.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree with strong performance in math coursework
- A few years of work experience after college, which gives the candidate real life perspective
- A nontraditional or blue collar background, or a clear ability to connect with clients from one
- Comfort having direct conversations with clients about money, taxes, and retirement
- Licenses are not required at the start. Candidates who already hold them are welcome.
Who Will Succeed Here The strongest candidate genuinely likes talking with people, enjoys solving problems, and would rather spend the day with clients than on administrative work. This person wants a long term seat with a path to taking over the practice.
