Senior Survey/Geospatial Technician, Midland, TX
Halff has an immediate opening for an experienced Senior Survey/Geospatial Technician in our Midland, Texas office. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled survey professional who enjoys turning field data and research into accurate, high-quality survey deliverables while continuing to grow their technical expertise and career.
As a key member of our Survey team, you will support a variety of surveying and geospatial projects by researching, processing, analyzing, and preparing survey data, maps, plats, and other deliverables. You will collaborate with surveyors, engineers, and project teams while contributing to successful project delivery.

What you will do:
- Compile and organize survey research, including deeds, plats, easements, and other supporting documents.
- Process, reduce, and analyze survey field data, including field notes, digital imagery, GIS data, and COGO calculations.
- Prepare survey plats, topographic maps, as-built exhibits, land parcel maps, legal descriptions, and other survey deliverables.
- Develop survey drawings and digital terrain models using CAD and geospatial software.
- Support boundary, topographic, construction staking, and other surveying projects.
- Prepare TxDOT parcel exhibits, right-of-way maps, and associated ROW documentation.
- Collaborate with surveyors, engineers, and project teams to meet project requirements, schedules, and quality standards.
- Operate and maintain surveying equipment and software used for data collection and analysis.
- Prepare survey reports and supporting documentation for review by a Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS).
- Follow company safety standards, applicable industry requirements, and quality-control procedures.
What you will need:
- 5+ years of experience as a Survey Technician, Survey/Geospatial Technician, or in a similar role.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience producing survey maps, plats, legal descriptions, and related survey deliverables.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center.
- Experience with survey data processing and CAD workflows.
- Working knowledge of surveying equipment, including total stations, GNSS/GPS receivers, and data collectors.
- Strong understanding of land surveying principles, practices, and terminology.
- Working knowledge of GIS applications and geospatial data.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
- Ability to access and navigate job sites and construction areas and occasionally perform fieldwork in varying outdoor conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and wind.
- Ability to repeatedly lift up to 25 pounds.
Senior Survey/Geospatial Technician Preferred Requirements:
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
- CST Level III certification or actively working toward certification.
- SIT or CSR I, II, or III certification.
- Previous survey field experience.
- Oil and gas surveying experience.
- Public Works and/or Land Development surveying experience.
- TxDOT surveying or right-of-way experience.
- Experience with MicroStation V8i, GeoPAK, and OpenRoads Designer.
