About the Role
H&R Block is looking for a Vice President, Enterprise Data & Analytics to turn data into an advantage for our customers and our business. Reporting to the Chief Strategy & Operations Officer, this leader will shape and execute an enterprise data strategy that sharpens customer understanding, speeds decision-making, and unlocks responsible AI and personalization. The mandate is clear: build trusted data capabilities and translate them into measurable growth, better experiences, and stronger performance.
This role brings enterprise data leadership together with hands-on accountability for reporting, forecasting, experimentation, data science, measurement, and decision support. You will set the long-term direction while delivering near-term wins, with clear milestones, measurable outcomes, and visible progress from the start. You will create shared definitions, clarify ownership, and build adoption across functions. In partnership with Product, Technology, Marketing, Retail, Operations, Finance, Information Security, and business leaders, you will move quickly from strategy to execution and business value.
You will create an operating model that pairs enterprise standards with clear business ownership and fast, cross-functional delivery. Business teams will continue to own how data is defined and used, while delivery partners remain accountable for execution. You will clarify decisions, priorities, and responsibilities so teams can move faster with trusted, shared foundations.
What You’ll Lead
Enterprise Data Strategy & Business Value
- Own and execute the enterprise data strategy, aligned to H&R Block’s growth priorities and the customer outcomes that matter most, with a sequenced roadmap that delivers meaningful progress each quarter.
- Partner with executive leaders to prioritize high-impact opportunities, guide investment decisions, and define measurable outcomes for data and analytics initiatives.
- Make data easier to understand and act on, helping leaders turn complex questions into clear decisions and measurable action.
Data Foundations & Governance
- Establish practical governance, including data ownership, stewardship, quality standards, decision rights, and escalation paths.
- Create shared business definitions and a trusted metrics foundation, working with leaders to resolve competing definitions and ownership questions.
- Partner with Technology and Information Security to enable appropriate access, permissions, and responsible reuse.
Enterprise Data Capabilities & Products
- Lead the strategy and cross-functional delivery of shared data capabilities, beginning with customer identity and expanding to customer intelligence and reusable data products.
- Partner with Product and Technology to build scalable data products that power smarter personalization, responsible AI, and connected digital experiences.
- Measure success through adoption, reuse, speed, and business value, while reducing duplicated work across teams.
Analytics & Decision Science
- Lead and grow a high-performing team of data scientists, machine learning experts, and analysts focused on the company’s most important business questions, from forecasting and experimentation to measurement and decision support.
- Connect analytics priorities to the data roadmap and help business leaders convert insight into action that improves customer experience and performance.
Organizational & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Build and develop an exceptional, multidisciplinary data and analytics organization with clear priorities, strong accountability, and room for people to do their best work.
- Lead enterprise change with clarity and momentum, building executive alignment, navigating tradeoffs, and bringing business and technical teams together around common outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- A track record of leading enterprise data and analytics across complex organizations and turning investment into adoption, measurable outcomes, and lasting business value.
- Experience establishing governance that works in practice, including ownership, stewardship, quality standards, decision rights, shared definitions, and trusted enterprise metrics.
- Experience building shared data capabilities or products, such as customer identity, customer intelligence, or reusable enterprise data assets.
- Leadership depth in analytics and decision science, including reporting, forecasting, experimentation, data science, and measurement.
- Strong business and technical fluency, with the ability to connect customer and business needs to governance, architecture, and engineering execution.
- Executive presence, influence, and sound judgment, with a record of resolving difficult tradeoffs, leading change, and building teams that deliver.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a customer-centered, multichannel business where customer identity, personalization, governance, and enterprise analytics are important to business performance.
- Experience establishing trusted data foundations for AI, personalization, or connected digital experiences.
- A background in enterprise data leadership or product leadership for shared data, customer identity, intelligence, personalization, or enterprise platform capabilities.
What Success Looks Like
- A clear enterprise data roadmap that balances long-term direction with near-term milestones, accountable owners, smart investment choices, and measurable outcomes.
- A more complete and consistent understanding of customers across products, channels, and experiences.
- Trusted data and shared definitions that reduce debate, speed decisions, and increase confidence.
- Practical governance that resolves issues quickly and helps teams move with confidence.
- Reusable data products that accelerate analytics, personalization, and responsible AI without rebuilding the foundation for every use case.
- A high-performing analytics organization known for turning insight into action and measurable business value.
