Original job description

About Guru We're a Series C venture-backed company on a mission to bring clarity to chaos. Our knowledge management platform is trusted by forward-thinking companies who refuse to let critical information get lost in the noise. We're a lean team that's intentionally built for efficiency - being AI-native means we don't need armies. You'll see immediate impact without getting lost in bureaucracy, while having the resources to win enterprise deals.

We believe in cultivating a welcoming, inclusive culture that encourages personal growth through working hard while enjoying the journey. Launched in September 2015, our vision is backed by an amazing group of investors including FirstMark Capital, Salesforce, Michael Dell, the Slack Fund, Emergence Capital, Thrive Capital and Accel. As we enter the next exciting stage of expansion, we're searching for passionate individuals to join our rapidly growing team.

This is a full-time position that can be performed Remotely and/or out of our Philadelphia office. Re-location and/or Visa Sponsorship is not included in our hiring package. Applicants will need to be authorized to work in the US and residing in a state where Guru is a registered employer.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

All are welcome here. At Guru, being inclusive is very important to us. Regardless of race, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identification, or background.

We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Please contact us at talent@getguru.com to request accommodation.

The Opportunity Guru is looking for a Solutions Architect who writes real code and likes being in the room with customers. You'll join our Solution Delivery team as a technical, customer-facing builder who connects customers' tools and systems to Guru when the standard platform isn't enough. You'll design and ship custom integrations, build with MCP and other agent protocols, create AI-powered tooling for the team, and step in as the expert when a technical problem needs API-level investigation. You'll also be the technical partner our Customer Solutions Engineers bring in early, before a project gets complicated. This role is for someone who sees a one-off request and asks how to make it a reusable solution that serves many customers. Why This Role Matters Customers come to Guru because they want AI they can trust, and that trust depends on Guru connecting cleanly to the systems where their knowledge already lives: Slack, SharePoint, Salesforce, identity providers, and the custom tools that make every company different. When those connections work, Guru becomes the trusted source behind every AI and human workflow. When they don't, value stalls. You'll close that gap. The integrations you build expand what customers can do with Guru, the tooling you create helps the Solution Delivery team scale, and the documentation you write helps developers and partners build on our platform. You'll also build a real technical specialty in integrations, scripting, AI features, and automation, with a clear path to the Senior Solutions Architect level. What Makes You the Perfect Fit You're a builder at heart

You have technical taste and care about the craft of what you build
You ship prototypes regularly and write code other people can maintain
You don't wait to be asked; you're already building the thing the team needs

You think in systems

When you solve a problem, your instinct is to make the solution reusable
You look for patterns and use data to find root causes, not just symptoms
You know when to dig in on your own and when to ask for help

You're genuinely excited about AI

You've worked hands-on with LLMs, agents, and retrieval, and you're curious about where they're going next
You approach a fast-changing product with curiosity, even when it's unfamiliar territory

You're credible with customers

You can explain complex technical topics clearly to customer, partner, and internal audiences
You stay composed and communicate clearly when an issue is urgent

What You'll Actually Do Build custom integrations: Design and ship integrations, API connections, webhooks, data migration tools, and automations that connect customers' tools to Guru, including MCP-based integrations with Guru's Knowledge Agent and skills. Turn repeated requests into reusable, configurable solutions. Scope what's possible: Assess customer integration requests for technical feasibility and recommend whether a native, partner, or custom approach fits best. Build AI tooling and automation: Create AI-powered tools and internal automations that help the Solution Delivery team work at scale, owning each project from scoping through a handoff the team can sustain. Be the go-to for Guru's AI features: Guide customers and teammates on Knowledge Agent configuration, prompt design, MCP server integrations, and skill creation, and spot new ways to apply what's on our AI roadmap. Solve the hard technical problems: Serve as a primary escalation point for API-level and integration issues across Slack, SharePoint, Salesforce, and identity providers. Build workarounds while permanent fixes are in progress, and document resolutions so the team doesn't solve the same problem twice. Write documentation developers want to use: Produce API guides, integration walkthroughs, code samples, and troubleshooting references for the Developer Network and Help Center, plus internal playbooks and templates for the team. Partner with CSEs and customers: Work alongside Customer Solutions Engineers early in the customer journey, join technical discovery calls, proofs of concept, and demos, and support Sales and CS on complex evaluations, expansions, and at-risk accounts. Grow our partner ecosystem: Contribute to partner integrations and keep the Developer Network current. The Perks of Being Exceptional

Flexible hybrid work: Monday-Friday, with the autonomy to manage your schedule
Travel with purpose: 3-4x per year for meaningful company events (not endless road warrior life)
True influence: Your insights shape product development and company strategy
Growth trajectory: This senior IC role is designed for those who want massive impact without the management overhead

Requirements:

5+ years in solutions architecture, software development, or technical consulting
Demonstrated experience building custom integrations, technical solutions, or automation, with examples you can walk us through
Strong coding ability in Python, with comfort in JavaScript or a similar language
Experience with enterprise integration and identity: REST APIs, OAuth, webhooks, SAML or OIDC SSO, SCIM provisioning, and permission-aware retrieval
Strong working knowledge of LLM and RAG concepts, including retrieval quality, grounding, citations, hallucination, and evaluation methods
Practical experience with agent deployments, including tool use, MCP servers, system prompts, guardrails, and multi-step workflows
Track record of owning technical projects end to end, from scoping through delivery and documentation
Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, or Customer Success
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

Nice-to-Have:

Experience with developer documentation, developer communities, or partner integrations
Experience with prompt design, RAG architectures, and Knowledge Agent configuration
Experience with data and analytics platforms such as Sigma or Google Analytics
Comfort with iPaaS and workflow automation tools such as Zapier, Make, or Workato

The base salary compensation range for the position outlined is $132,000-$193,000, depending on location. This role reports to the Director, Support & Solutions and is classified as IC4. Travel is approximately 10% for customer, partner, or developer events. We believe in reasonable accommodations and are committed to enabling qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions successfully.
