Original job description

Lead the high-level design and architectural framework for HelloFreshs Production Technology ecosystem, ensuring seamless integration between Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Warehouse Execution Systems (WES), and cloud-based logistics platforms. Define complex system specifications and requirements for new automated fulfillment centers, ensuring all hardware and software components are interoperable and scalable. Design the network and edge-computing infrastructure required to support real-time data processing and robotics on the production floor. Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments of emerging technologies (e.g., computer vision for quality control, autonomous mobile robots) to determine their integration path into existing systems. Manage the technical lifecycle of production systems, deciding when to upgrade, refactor, or decommission legacy systems to minimize technical debt and operational risk. Collaborate with Global Product and Tech leads to align local systems engineering efforts with the global HelloFresh technology stack. Lead the modeling and testing of system capacities to ensure production environments can handle 2x-3x surges in volume during peak seasons. Design and implement robust security protocols for Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and IoT devices to protect the physical production line from cyber threats. Provide Tier-3 technical oversight for complex, systemic failures, utilizing data-driven analysis to design architectural fixes that prevent recurrence across the global network. Establish and enforce unified engineering standards, coding practices for PLC/automation logic, and documentation protocols for all Production Technology teams. Serve as the primary technical authority for external automation and software vendors, ensuring their systems comply with HelloFreshs internal architecture and security standards. Provide technical mentorship to Systems Engineers, focusing on professional development in systems thinking and architectural design. Provide technical justifications for Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) related to system upgrades and new technology deployments. Analyze technical project requirements to advise on the necessary engineering headcount and skill sets required to execute the technology roadmap.
