Key Responsibilities

  • Unload, stage, and set up equipment, hoses, containers, and support trailers at each mobilization, and break down and load out equipment at demobilization.
  • Receive removed MBBR media and liner material once it exits the tank, and bag, load, and move it into roll-off bins, supersacks, totes, or drums for transport.
  • Lay out, connect, route, and manage vacuum and wash hoses at grade, keeping hose runs clear of walkways and vehicle paths.
  • Clean, rinse, and maintain tools and equipment at the staging area using low-pressure washing, and help refuel and check equipment as directed.
  • Keep the work area, staging area, and access routes clean and free of trip hazards, and set up and maintain barricades, caution tape, and safety fencing.
  • Act as a spotter for vacuum trucks, roll-off trucks, and other equipment while they are backing or positioning.
  • Stock and distribute PPE, absorbents, bags, liners, and other consumables to the crew.
  • Attend daily tailgate meetings and the site orientation, follow the job hazard analysis (JHA), and use Stop Work Authority whenever a hazard is not controlled.
  • Complete assigned on-the-job learning and any related classroom instruction required by the apprenticeship program, and keep required records of hours worked.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, within the scope of the apprenticeship and outside tanks and HAZWOPER-controlled areas.

Education and Experience Required

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Enrollment in, or eligibility to enroll in, Laborers’ International Union of North America LiUNA Local No. 1184.
  • HAZWOPER certification is not required; apprentices do not enter tanks or areas that require HAZWOPER certification.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, safety procedures, and the direction of the Site Supervisor and journey-level laborer.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and wear required PPE, including a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, and hearing protection.

  • Experience in construction, industrial, warehouse, or general labor work.
  • Valid California driver’s license.

  • Reliability, punctuality, and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate clearly with crew members.
  • Availability for early starts, overtime, and travel to job sites.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health benefits coverage after 60 days of full-time employment.
  • 401(k) with discretionary company match.
  • Company paid STD, LTD, and life insurance.
  • Company paid time off and holidays.
  • Career path programs and ongoing company-paid training.
