Purpose
The Senior Manager, Financial Analytics is a hands-on finance leader for manufacturing finance, reporting, analytics, process improvement and ERP business leadership. The role works alongside plant accounting and operations to understand how transactions are generated, find where processes break down, and build simpler, reliable ways of working.
Gränges Americas makes rolled aluminum for HVAC and heat exchangers, packaging and automotive markets. Metal moves through melting, casting, rolling, work in process and finished goods, so accurate metal accounting, scrap recovery, melt loss, inventory and costing drive how well we understand plant performance and profitability.
Today the environment includes AX 2009, RollCIM, ZAP reporting tools and heavy Excel-based reporting. This role shifts Finance from after-the-fact investigation to early detection, from manual reconstruction to recurring controls, and from describing variances to assigning actions and owners.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacturing finance and metal accounting
- Lead the end-to-end review of metal accounting, starting at SRM, connecting physical activity, production records, inventory and the general ledger.
- Map how casting entries capture metal inputs, cast output, scrap, melt loss, dross and inventory movements; remove missing inputs, inconsistent treatment and manual steps.
- Review how physical scrap counts and cutoff information flow into monthly accounting; separate operational changes from timing, measurement, transaction or accounting issues.
- Own the FIFO calculation and monthly layer roll forward; simplify inputs and keep quantities and values traceable to supporting records and the ledger.
- Build a recurring metal balance and exception review with a clear owner and follow-up action for each unusual movement.
- Extend proven approaches from SRM to HRM and NRM.
- Reporting and dashboards
- Modernize the monthly KPI package: review sources, definitions, calculations and workflow, and replace manual steps with repeatable data preparation and validation.
- Design executive and plant dashboards showing actual versus budget, prior periods and targets, with drill-down by site, product and other business dimensions.
- Connect operational and financial measures: volume, scrap and yield, melt loss, inventory, conversion cost, profitability and working capital.
- Set clear metric definitions, source ownership, refresh routines and reconciliation checks.
- Build and maintain a reporting roadmap prioritized by business value.
- Provide leadership, direction and priorities to the KPI/reporting analyst.
- Analytics and decision support
- Identify and lead the analyses with the greatest effect on EBIT, cash and manufacturing performance.
- Metal, scrap and yield: find where losses or inventory differences are developing, isolate drivers and estimate financial impact.
- Manufacturing cost: explain changes in conversion cost, energy, labor, maintenance and utilization, separating volume from rate, efficiency and spending effects.
- Profitability and working capital: analyze price, product mix, metal discounts, customer and product contribution, and inventory aging and turnover.
- For each significant finding, answer: what changed, what is driving it, how large the financial effect is, what action is recommended, and who owns it. Track whether actions deliver the expected result.
- Automation and practical use of AI
- Use automation and approved AI tools to reduce repetitive work in recurring reporting, exception identification, documentation and first drafts of variance commentary.
- Pilot AI-assisted narrative built on validated KPI data, with finance owner review before distribution.
- Keep reconciled calculations and human review in place for every automated output.
- ERP selection and implementation
- Lead the business side of the new ERP selection and implementation, working with functional leaders, IT and the implementation partner.
- Work with Finance, Procurement, Quality, Planning & Scheduling, Customer Service and Technology & Integration to document current workflows, issues, controls and future requirements.
- Define manufacturing finance requirements: metal and scrap movements, casting entries, inventory traceability, FIFO valuation and layers, standard costing, yield and melt-loss analysis, plant close and GL reconciliation.
- Build the evaluation scorecard and business scenarios for vendor demonstrations; assess fit, gaps, and configuration, integration or customization needs.
- Support process design, data mapping and conversion, end-to-end and user acceptance testing, training, cutover and post-go-live issue resolution.
- General finance support
- Provide flexible, experienced capacity across Finance during peak periods or shifting priorities, as prioritized with the Director of Finance.
- Support accounting and close: reconciliations, accruals, inventory and cost accounting, variance investigation and audit requests.
- Support budgets, forecasts, scenario modeling, cash flow analysis and financial evaluation of operational decisions.
- Respond to urgent leadership questions, cost-saving opportunities, pricing and margin reviews, and working capital initiatives.
- For recurring requests, leave behind a documented approach, reusable analysis or trained colleague.
Qualifications
Qualifications

- 15+ years of progressive finance experience, including plant or manufacturing accounting.
- Strong command of inventory accounting, standard costing, product costing, variance analysis and month-end close.
- Hands-on experience leading or playing a key business role in at least one ERP selection or implementation (requirements, data conversion, testing, training).
- Proven experience building dashboards and KPI reporting from multiple data sources, using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, SQL and advanced Excel.
- Track record of partnering with plant managers and operations teams to turn variances into corrective actions with measurable results.
- Clear communicator who can explain financial effects and recommendations to senior leaders and plant teams.
- Comfortable moving between detailed accounting work and broader business decisions, and knowing when to bring in specialist review.
Preferred
- CMA or CPA.
- MBA or graduate study in Accounting or Information Systems.

Success measures
The role should pay for itself by preventing or recovering losses from inventory errors, scrap and yield deterioration, inconsistent product costs and recurring manual errors.
- Less time spent preparing and reconciling reports, and less month-end reconstruction.
- A metal accounting and FIFO process the SRM team can run consistently, then extended to other sites.
- Greater use of trusted, reconciled dashboards by executives and plant leaders.
- Faster identification of material issues, each with an owner and corrective action.
- Documented financial benefits from actions taken.
- ERP requirements, evaluation and implementation delivered on the program timetable.
