Original job description
Location: Milford, Connecticut area (primarily in-office, with flexibility)
Compensation: $60,000 - $100,000 base salary, depending on experience, plus tax season bonus
About the Opportunity
A well-established, community-focused public accounting firm in coastal Connecticut is looking for a Tax Accountant to join its tax practice. This is a rare long-term opportunity: the firm is planning for leadership succession and wants someone who can grow into leadership and eventual ownership over the next 5 to 7 years. It's a close-knit team that values work-life balance, autonomy, and flexible scheduling, without a Big 4 lifestyle.
What You'll Do
- Prepare individual, partnership, and S-corporation tax returns (Forms 1040, 1065, and 1120-S)
- Work directly with individual and small business clients on tax compliance and planning
- Research tax questions and help solve client issues
- Take on increasing responsibility and client ownership over time
- Grow into a leadership role with a path toward ownership
What You Bring
- 3+ years of public accounting tax experience (no audit required)
- Strong tax preparation background with 1040, 1065, and 1120-S returns
- CPA or CPA eligible preferred; a strong desire to earn the CPA is important
- A long-term mindset and real interest in leadership and future ownership
- No desire for a Big 4 lifestyle
What's Offered
- $60,000 - $100,000 base salary, depending on experience
- Tax season bonuses
- Health insurance and retirement plan
- 15 days of PTO plus 10 paid holidays
- Flexible hours, split shifts, and work-from-home options when needed for family needs
- Long-term ownership and equity opportunity within about 5 years
