Structural Steel Fabricator

gpac, a recruiting firm with 30+ years in business, is partnered with a well-established company in the structural steel and metals fabrication industry in the Charlotte, NC area. Our client is seeking a skilled Welder / Fabricator to fit, weld, and fabricate structural and miscellaneous steel.

STEEL INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED: candidates must have hands-on welding/fitting experience in structural steel or miscellaneous/ornamental metals fabrication or erection.

Position Responsibilities:

• Fit, weld, and fabricate steel parts and assemblies
• Follow drawings, safety, and quality standards
• Work with fitters, welders, and the quality team
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work area
• Meet production goals

Position Essential Job Functions:

• Read shop drawings and weld symbols
• Lay out, cut, fit, and tack parts
• Perform MIG, flux-core, and/or stick welding to WPS requirements
• Use grinders, saws, drills, and torches; operate cranes and forklifts safely
• Inspect your own work for accuracy and quality

Position Skills:

• Required: 2+ years of experience in the structural steel or metals fabrication/erection industry
• 2+ years of structural steel fabrication or welding experience
• AWS D1.1 certification preferred or ability to pass a weld test
• Ability to read shop drawings and weld symbols
• Overhead crane and forklift experience a plus
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail
