Original job description
A steel fabricator and erector serving the East Bay and Northern California is looking for an Estimator to take ownership of pricing structural and miscellaneous steel packages for light commercial, residential, and industrial projects.
Responsibilities:
- Solicit and evaluate quotes for detailing, erection, coatings, and freight
- Complete quantity takeoffs and estimates for structural and miscellaneous steel, covering both fabrication and erection
- Build competitive bids and proposals for light commercial, residential, and industrial work
- Work with project managers, the shop, and field crews on constructability and handoff
- Review plans and specs, and identify scope gaps, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities
Requirements:
- Strong blueprint reading skills
- Steel estimating experience covering both fabrication and erection
- Familiarity with structural and miscellaneous metals packages
- Experience with estimating software such as Tekla EPM, SDS2, or similar a plus
