Original job description
gpac, a recruiting firm with 30+ years in business, is partnered with a well-established company in the pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) industry. Our client designs and supplies metal building systems and has a strong reputation across Texas. This is a fully remote opportunity for a structural engineer who wants to grow a career in metal building design.
Position Responsibilities:
- Design and engineer pre-engineered metal building systems, including primary rigid frames, secondary framing (purlins and girts), bracing, and connections.
- Prepare structural calculations, design packages, and sealed drawings for permit and construction.
- Apply building codes and loads (IBC, ASCE 7 wind, snow, seismic, and collateral loads) to each project.
- Work with estimators, drafters/detailers, builders, and erectors to make sure designs are economical and buildable.
- Review shop and erection drawings, and answer RFIs and field questions during construction.
Position Essential Job Functions:
- Perform structural analysis and design with metal building software such as MBS or MetalPro, plus general tools like RISA or STAAD.
- Check anchor bolt plans and foundation reactions, and coordinate with foundation engineers.
- Keep up with MBMA guidelines and AISC, AISI, and ASCE standards.
- Support quality programs, including IAS AC472 accreditation requirements where they apply.
Position Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. A PE license is strongly preferred, or EIT working toward one.
- Experience designing pre-engineered metal buildings or light-gauge and structural steel systems.
- MBS, MetalPro, or similar metal building design software experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of AISC, AISI, ASCE 7, IBC, and MBMA standards.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Benefits:
- Competitive salary of $80,000–$115,000, depending on experience.
- Comprehensive health insurance.
- Retirement plan with company match.
- Paid time off and holidays.
- Professional development and PE licensing support.
