Original job description
A structural steel fabricator serving the Harrison, OH area needs a Steel Estimator to bid fabricated and erected steel on commercial and industrial work. You'll own each estimate from takeoff to proposal.
Responsibilities:
- Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing for structural and miscellaneous steel from plans and specs
- Build complete estimates covering material, shop labor, and erection, and write proposals
- Request and compare quotes for detailing, erection, galvanizing, coatings, and freight
- Work with steel erectors and project managers on constructability and erection sequencing
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of structural steel estimating experience
- Strong blueprint reading skills
- Familiarity with Tekla EPM, SDS2, or similar estimating software
