Shop Manager

gpac, a recruiting firm with 30+ years in business, is partnered with a well-established company in the structural steel and metals fabrication industry in the West Palm Beach, FL area. Our client is seeking a Shop / Fabrication Manager to lead fabrication operations, people, and production performance.

Position Responsibilities:

• Lead all fabrication shop operations, including fitting, welding, finishing, and shipping
• Plan shop schedules and capacity to meet project deadlines
• Drive safety, quality, and productivity improvements
• Manage, hire, and develop shop supervisors and craft employees
• Partner with project management and detailing on priorities

Position Essential Job Functions:

• Review backlog and set daily and weekly production priorities
• Monitor labor hours, throughput, and cost performance
• Support quality programs and AISC certification requirements
• Oversee equipment maintenance and capital needs
• Report production metrics to leadership

Position Skills:

• 5+ years of leadership experience in a structural steel or metal fabrication shop
• Experience in an AISC-certified fabrication facility preferred
• Strong knowledge of welding, fitting, and CNC equipment
• Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience a plus
• Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills
