Original job description
A respected design-build general contractor in the Chicago area is looking for a Senior Electrical Preconstruction Manager to lead the electrical side of its mission critical and data center work. You'll shape budgets, systems strategy and buyout on large, power-heavy projects long before the first conduit goes in.
What You'll Do
- Lead electrical preconstruction on data center and mission critical projects from concept through buyout
- Build conceptual, schematic and detailed electrical estimates and keep budgets aligned as design develops
- Evaluate power distribution, switchgear, UPS, generator and medium-voltage options with owners and design teams
- Drive value engineering, constructability reviews and long-lead equipment procurement strategy
- Manage electrical trade partner outreach, bid leveling and scope reviews
- Partner with business development and operations on pursuits, proposals and clean project handoffs
What You Bring
- Many years of electrical preconstruction or estimating experience with a general contractor or electrical contractor
- Mission critical or data center experience strongly preferred
- Strong cost knowledge of electrical distribution, critical power and backup systems
- Comfort presenting budgets and options to owners, developers and design teams
- Clear communication and a collaborative leadership style
What We Offer
- Pay range of $140,000–$180,000 per year, based on experience
- Medical, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) and paid time off
- A senior seat on a growing mission critical preconstruction team
