Original job description

Our client, a respected multi-state transportation engineering consultancy, is planning for the future of its bridge and structures practice in central Iowa. They're looking for a senior bridge engineer to lead structures work locally, mentor engineers, and help grow the team.

Your impact:

Lead structures work locally: mentoring staff, balancing workload, and owning QA/QC
Serve as technical lead on bridges from culverts to complex multi-span concrete and steel girder structures
Manage structures scope, schedule, and budget on multidisciplinary roadway and rail projects
Act as primary client contact, supporting interviews, meetings, and public presentations
Review submittals, answer RFIs, and support construction in the field
Build fee estimates and staffing plans, and track project financials
Drive proposals and pursuit strategy to grow the structures practice
Grow into a broader leadership role as the Iowa structures team expands

You bring:

BS in Civil or Structural Engineering (MS preferred)
PE required; Iowa PE or able to get it within 6 months
10+ years of bridge and structural design on transportation projects
Experience leading projects and mentoring or managing engineers
Strong AASHTO knowledge; Iowa DOT experience strongly preferred (Nebraska or South Dakota DOT a plus)
Advanced structural analysis and design software skills
Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

What's in it for you:

A senior, visible role with a clear path to leadership
Substantial sign-on bonus plus competitive base
Strong benefits and professional development support
