Original job description

Our client, a respected multi-state transportation engineering consultancy, is planning for the future of its bridge and structures practice in central Iowa. They're looking for a senior bridge engineer to lead structures work locally, mentor engineers, and help grow the team.

Your impact:

  • Lead structures work locally: mentoring staff, balancing workload, and owning QA/QC
  • Serve as technical lead on bridges from culverts to complex multi-span concrete and steel girder structures
  • Manage structures scope, schedule, and budget on multidisciplinary roadway and rail projects
  • Act as primary client contact, supporting interviews, meetings, and public presentations
  • Review submittals, answer RFIs, and support construction in the field
  • Build fee estimates and staffing plans, and track project financials
  • Drive proposals and pursuit strategy to grow the structures practice
  • Grow into a broader leadership role as the Iowa structures team expands

You bring:

  • BS in Civil or Structural Engineering (MS preferred)
  • PE required; Iowa PE or able to get it within 6 months
  • 10+ years of bridge and structural design on transportation projects
  • Experience leading projects and mentoring or managing engineers
  • Strong AASHTO knowledge; Iowa DOT experience strongly preferred (Nebraska or South Dakota DOT a plus)
  • Advanced structural analysis and design software skills
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

What's in it for you:

  • A senior, visible role with a clear path to leadership
  • Substantial sign-on bonus plus competitive base
  • Strong benefits and professional development support
