Original job description

A growing seed company is adding a new facility and is hiring a hands-on Seed Packaging Technician to run its seed corn and soybean packaging lines. The job covers packaging season, and you'll also help in the field with planting and pre-harvest work.

What you'll do

  • Run and maintain the packaging equipment for seed corn and soybeans.
  • Diagnose and repair equipment, on your own or alongside the maintenance team.
  • Set up each run to the customer's specs for seed size, package @type and similar details.
  • Help with expansion projects and facility improvements.
  • Support field production during planting and pre-harvest.
  • Over time, guide, train and lead less experienced employees on a small packaging team.

What you bring

  • Experience packaging seed on automated equipment, such as baggers, palletizers, shrink wrappers, box flippers and forklifts.
  • Experience with Taylor Systems, Chantland, Columbia Okura, Premier Tech or similar systems is a strong plus.
  • Experience in outside production of seed corn or soybeans.
  • A mechanical, problem-solving mindset and a willingness to learn and grow into a lead role.

Reporting

You'll report to the Corn or Soybean Plant Manager, depending on your line.
