Process Manufacturing Engineer
Torrington, CT | On-site | Full-time | $85,000–$125,000
A plastics/medical device manufacturer needs a hands-on Process Manufacturing Engineer to develop, implement, and sustain robust, repeatable injection molding processes that move new products and tooling from NPI into stable production. You’ll be the technical bridge between NPI, Tooling, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Operations - spending real time on the floor with molds, presses, and production teams.
PLASTIC INJECTION MOLDING EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. Medical device manufacturing experience is a huge plus.
Relocation assistance available. Visa sponsorship is not available.
What you'll do:
- Partner with NPI and Tooling Engineers on new injection molding tools and products from mold trials and sampling through production launch
- Establish and optimize molding process parameters, operating windows, and process controls for stable, repeatable, capable production
- Conduct hands-on process trials and adjustments on injection molding equipment; troubleshoot mold, machine, material, and process issues
- Transition processes from development into Manufacturing so they are practical, documented, and consistently executable across shifts
- Partner with Quality to investigate process-related defects, find root cause, and implement sustainable corrective actions
- Develop and maintain process documentation, setup parameters, work instructions, and standard work under change control
- Drive continuous improvement on process capability, scrap, variation, cycle time, downtime, and cost
What you bring:
- Plastic injection molding process development experience (required) - parameters, process windows, mold trials, and troubleshooting
- Bachelor’s in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Plastics Engineering, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered)
- Hands-on experience taking tooling and processes from NPI trials into production launch
- Medical device or regulated manufacturing experience (huge plus)
- Strong root-cause analysis, data-driven problem solving, and ability to document processes Manufacturing can run consistently
- Collaborative partnership skills with Tooling, Quality, NPI, and Operations
Pay: $85,000–$125,000. Full-time, on-site in Torrington, CT. Relocation assistance available. Visa sponsorship is not available.
