A growing manufacturer in Chesterfield, MI is hiring a skilled Mold Maker to build tools, dies, and proto@type molds, working closely with programmers every day. Injection molding experience is a big plus, especially in plastics or medical device manufacturing.
What you'll do:
- Plan the sequence of operations for building tools and dies from blueprints
- Fit and assemble gauges and metal-forming equipment with hand tools
- Build proto@type molds from aluminum, bronze, and other materials
- Complete dies by promised dates and produce samples to customer specs
- Coordinate daily with programmers to finish projects
What you bring:
- Broad machining knowledge, shop math, and blueprint reading
- Understanding of how common metals and alloys machine (hardness, heat tolerance)
- Mechanical aptitude and independent problem solving
- High school or vocational education with math, blueprint reading, metalworking, or drafting
- Injection molding machine experience preferred
Working conditions: Noisy shop, PPE required, standing about half the day with some moderately heavy lifting, and extended hours are common.
