Original job description

Have a few years of mechanical project experience and want more say in how jobs get delivered? A mechanical contractor is looking for a Mechanical Project Manager in St. Louis who will own project results on HVAC, plumbing and piping work.

You'll be accountable for each project's outcome: the money, the schedule, the safety record and the finished install. You'll partner closely with field leaders and keep clients confident.

Your day-to-day

  • Lead site safety: inspections, high-risk activity planning and site-specific safety requirements
  • Keep contract documents, submittals, RFIs and closeout packages (O&M manuals, warranties, record drawings) organized
  • Build and drive project schedules alongside engineering and P6 schedulers, including weekly work plans
  • Approve invoices, oversee payables and receivables, prepare billing schedules and settle cost changes
  • Visit sites regularly to confirm mechanical, plumbing and specialty installs match the approved documents
  • Run project financials with job cost and cash flow reports, flagging risks early and keeping forecasts accurate
  • Strengthen client relationships and pass new opportunities to senior leadership
  • Plan manpower, track labor productivity and coordinate with purchasing, the shop, the warehouse and vendors
  • Direct subcontractors: set scopes, manage contracts and changes, and confirm DBE/MBE and contract compliance

Your background

  • P6 or Microsoft Project experience, or willingness to build it
  • 2-5 years managing projects for a mechanical contractor
  • Comfortable with Viewpoint, Procore, ACC Build, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office
  • A self-starter who communicates clearly and handles competing deadlines calmly
  • Degree in construction management or mechanical engineering, or equivalent proven construction management experience
  • HVAC and piping knowledge preferred
  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems, so you can read and apply project documents with confidence

What's in it for you

  • A role where performance is rewarded
  • Full medical, dental and vision coverage
  • Retirement plan with employer contributions
  • Paid vacation, sick days and holidays
  • Tuition reimbursement for continued learning
  • Discretionary annual bonus

Pay based on experience. All conversations are confidential, so apply today to learn more.
