Estimating Manager

gpac, a recruiting firm with 30+ years in business, is partnered with a well-established company in the structural steel and metals fabrication industry in the Columbia, SC area. Our client is seeking a Senior / Lead Estimator to lead complex bids and help guide the estimating function.

Position Responsibilities:

• Lead estimates on large and complex structural steel projects
• Review and approve estimates prepared by other estimators
• Develop bid strategy with leadership
• Build relationships with general contractors and key customers
• Mentor and develop estimators

Position Essential Job Functions:

• Perform and review takeoffs, pricing, and labor productivity
• Evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes
• Lead bid reviews and post-bid negotiations
• Maintain cost databases and estimating standards
• Support project turnover and track estimate-to-actual performance

Position Skills:

• 5+ years of estimating experience in structural steel, miscellaneous metals, or PEMB
• Experience estimating large commercial or industrial projects
• Proficiency with Tekla PowerFab, Bluebeam, or similar
• Strong knowledge of fabrication and erection methods
• Leadership and mentoring experience
