Original job description

Chicago's northwest suburbs, close to O'Hare and the fiber running through Elk Grove Village and Itasca, have turned into one of the Midwest's busiest data center hubs. A respected general contractor is adding a Project Manager to its mission-critical team here. If you enjoy technical, fast-paced builds and want to work with people who are easy to work with, this could be a great next step.

What You'll Do

  • Run data center projects from preconstruction and buyout through commissioning and turnover
  • Manage budgets, schedules, cost reports, change orders and monthly owner billing
  • Coordinate closely with owners, engineers and electrical and mechanical trade partners
  • Track long-lead equipment like switchgear, generators, UPS systems and cooling units so nothing holds up the schedule
  • Partner with field leadership on safety, quality, phasing and integrated systems testing
  • Help develop project engineers and assistant project managers on your team

What You Bring

  • Project management experience with a general contractor, including data center or mission-critical construction (required)
  • Solid understanding of critical power and cooling systems, MEP coordination and commissioning
  • Strong organization and a habit of staying ahead of cost and schedule
  • Friendly, clear communication with owners, designers and field crews
  • A degree in construction management, engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience

What We Offer

$125,000–$170,000 base salary plus bonus and benefits, steady mission-critical work in the Chicago suburbs, and a team that wants to see you grow.
