We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent with a strong background in healthcare construction to oversee complex hospital renovations and construction projects throughout Michigan.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working in active, occupied hospitals and understands the unique challenges of maintaining patient safety, infection control, and uninterrupted hospital operations during construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily field operations for healthcare construction projects, including hospital renovations, expansions, and ground-up construction.

• Coordinate subcontractors, trades, schedules, materials, and inspections to ensure successful project delivery.

• Manage construction activities within occupied healthcare facilities while minimizing disruptions to hospital operations.

• Ensure compliance with infection control (ICRA), life safety, environmental requirements, and hospital-specific construction protocols.

• Coordinate HVAC systems, temporary containment, positive/negative air pressure requirements, and critical shutdowns.

• Monitor project schedules, quality standards, jobsite safety, and subcontractor performance.

• Work closely with Project Managers, hospital representatives, architects, engineers, and trade partners.

• Maintain daily reports, track project progress, and proactively resolve field challenges.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of healthcare construction experience required.

• Proven experience managing renovations within active, occupied hospitals.

• Strong understanding of infection control, temporary containment, air pressure management, and healthcare safety protocols.

• Experience with commercial general contractors on complex construction projects.

• Ability to read blueprints, manage schedules, coordinate trades, and lead field operations.

• Experience with hospital imaging suites, MRI rooms, RF shielding, or specialized medical facilities is a plus.

• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

• Willingness to travel between Lansing and Grand Rapids project locations.

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive salary: $94,000–$140,000, based on experience.

• Comprehensive benefits package.

• Relocation assistance available.

• Long-term career growth opportunities.

• Opportunity to lead challenging, high-impact healthcare construction projects.

Recommended Indeed job title: Healthcare Construction Superintendent – Hospital Renovations

This title will help target candidates with actual hospital construction experience rather than general commercial or residential superintendents. I would also make occupied hospital renovation experience a required screening question, since that's one of the most important qualifications for this position.
