A community bank in Independence is confidentially seeking a Commercial Lender to grow business relationships across Buchanan County and eastern Iowa. You'll bring in new clients, underwrite and structure credit, close loans, and manage a commercial book.
Responsibilities:
- Prospect for new business clients through calling and local networking
- Learn each client's needs and recommend fitting credit and deposit products
- Evaluate business financial statements and overall creditworthiness
- Prepare loan write-ups and see documents through to closing
- Open business accounts and introduce treasury management services
- Hit annual growth targets while protecting portfolio quality
Qualifications:
- Four-year degree in Finance, Business, or Accounting preferred
- Several years of commercial lending or business banking in a community bank
- Clear communication and presentation skills with owners and managers
- Experience building loan proposals and underwriting credit
- Well organized and able to juggle several deals at once
