Original job description

We are a premier engineering firm with a half‑century of proven expertise in delivering safe, durable transportation infrastructure. Our multidisciplinary team blends seasoned veterans with ambitious innovators, offering mentorship, autonomy, and a clear path to leadership. We celebrate the tangible impact of our work and invest heavily in your professional growth.

The Role

As a Bridge Design Engineer, you’ll move beyond drafting drawings to become a pivotal contributor to the structural integrity and safety of critical infrastructure. You’ll own technical solutions for projects that range from municipal bridge replacements to complex, multi‑level highway interchanges. This is your chance to turn theory into real‑world structures that connect people and places.

What You’ll Do

Structural Design & Analysis – Perform precise calculations for bridge systems, combining hand methods with advanced software to guarantee safety and performance.
Digital Modeling – Build high‑fidelity models and documentation using Bentley OpenBridge, MicroStation, and related tools.
Cross‑Disciplinary Collaboration – Partner with project leads, roadway, hydraulic, and geotechnical teams to integrate structural solutions seamlessly.
Project Documentation – Create quantity takeoffs, technical reports, and cost‑estimate support materials.
Quality Assurance – Review submittals and shop drawings to ensure compliance with DOT standards and internal quality criteria.
Stakeholder & Field Engagement – Coordinate with external parties and participate in site visits to understand the full project lifecycle from concept to construction.

What We’re Looking For

RequirementDetails

Education B.S. in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a structural focus.

Experience 3+ years designing bridges or transportation structures; hands‑on with DOT projects preferred.

Technical Skills

Hand calculations & software analysis (e.g., SAP2000, RAM, STAAD)
Bentley OpenBridge, MicroStation, or equivalent BIM platforms
Strong grasp of bridge‑specific codes and standards

Soft Skills

Ability to juggle multiple assignments and meet deadlines
Clear, concise communication for diverse audiences
Collaborative mindset and proactive problem‑solving

Certifications EIT or PE required

Attributes

Passion for building real infrastructure
Commitment to continuous learning
Desire to mentor and be mentored

What We Offer

Competitive Salary – above industry standard base + performance bonuses
Benefits Package – Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match (up to 6 %), paid parental leave, and generous PTO.
Professional Development – Tuition reimbursement, conference attendance, and a structured career ladder.
Work‑Life Balance – Hybrid schedule (2–3 days in‑office, 2–3 days remote) and flexible hours.
Culture – Inclusive, collaborative environment where your impact is visible and celebrated.

Ready to Build Your Legacy?

If you’re eager to apply your structural expertise to real‑world transportation projects and grow alongside industry leaders, we want to hear from you.

Apply now: Send your resume, a brief cover letter, and any relevant project examples to morgan.ellis@gogpac.com with the subject line “Bridge Design Engineer – [Your Name]”.
