Original job description

Atlanta’s commercial construction market is moving fast, but most Assistant Project Manager roles keep you trapped doing paperwork in a silo - stuck in endless submittal loops with vague promises about when you'll ever run your own work.

If you’re a hungry, detail-oriented APM ready to bridge the gap between project coordination and full project ownership, you don’t need another lateral move. You need a contractor that trusts your abilities, puts you on high-profile projects alongside top-tier PMs, and actively prepares you for the Project Manager seat.

We are an established, fast-growing Commercial General Contractor in the Atlanta market. From complex corporate headquarters and healthcare facilities to advanced industrial and institutional developments, we build the spaces that shape our city. We’re looking for an Assistant Project Manager ready to step up, take real responsibility, and advance rapidly.

🛠️ What You’ll Actually Do

Drive Project Controls: Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, document control, and material procurement to keep jobs moving without delay.
Support Financial & Scope Buyout: Partner directly with the lead PM on trade buyout, scope writing, bid evaluations, and cost forecasting.
Facilitate Field & Design Coordination: Act as a critical communication bridge between architects, engineers, specialty trade contractors, and field superintendents.
Lead Quality & Safety Alignment: Conduct site walks and work hand-in-hand with field teams to resolve design conflicts before they impact schedule or budget.
Fast-Track to PM: Shadow and take on increasing project management responsibilities with a clear, structured roadmap toward managing your own jobs.

📝 What It Takes to Join Us

Relevant Experience: 2–4 years of commercial construction experience (as a Project Engineer, Field Engineer, or APM) working on ground-up builds or major renovations.
Field & Documentation Fluency: Demonstrated ability to read architectural/structural drawings and manage submittal/RFI workflows efficiently.
Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with industry-standard platforms such as Procore, Bluebeam, and scheduling tools (Primavera P6 or MS Project).
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Construction, or equivalent practical field experience.
Local Network: Familiarity with Atlanta-area trade partners and building codes is a strong plus.

🏆 Why This Opportunity is Different

Clear, Accelerated Promotion Track: We don't hire APMs to keep them buried in submittals for five years. Our leadership team is invested in mentoring you directly into a full PM role.
Flat Structure & High Visibility: Direct exposure to company leadership and project executives - your contributions are recognized and rewarded quickly.
True Atlanta-Local Work: Our projects are within the metro Atlanta footprint. You’ll be home every night, not traveling across state lines.
