Full Stack Software Engineer

Position Summary:

The Full Stack Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining both frontend and backend software for our Robotics products. This role spans modern web applications built with TypeScript and Svelte, as well as high-performance C++ backend services, rendering systems, and algorithm integration. The platform includes web-based user interfaces, Qt-based desktop applications, and service-oriented components communicating through technologies such as gRPC and Protocol Buffers. This individual will serve as a technical contributor, driving architecture, design decisions, and implementation across the full technology stack. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering fundamentals with expertise in modern frontend development, backend systems, UI/UX design, and scalable application architecture. Experience working with 3D visualization, rendering pipelines, and regulated software environments is highly desirable The position is hands-on and requires the ability to independently lead complex initiatives while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams including algorithm, systems, quality, and product development teams.

Essential Functions:

• Design, develop, and maintain full-stack software solutions from concept through production deployment.
• Develop prototypes, proofs of concept, and production-quality applications.
• Lead architectural design and technical implementation across frontend and backend systems.
• Build modern web applications using component-based architectures and responsive design principles.
• Develop reusable UI components and design systems that promote consistency and maintainability.
• Build performant, scalable backend services and application infrastructure using modern C++.
• Integrate algorithms into production software in collaboration with dedicated algorithm teams.
• Develop and maintain rendering and visualization capabilities, including 3D graphics subsystems where applicable.
• Collaborate on API design, service contracts, and data flow between frontend and backend systems.
• Contribute to existing Qt Widgets-based applications and support migration efforts to modern web technologies.
• Ensure application performance, scalability, maintainability, security, and reliability.
• Demonstrate a passion for software craftsmanship, test-driven development, and engineering best practices.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, testing, and technical documentation activities.
• Develop tools and utilities to support product development, manufacturing, service, and operational needs.
• Support manufacturing, internal testing, and external customers by investigating product issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
• Work effectively within an FDA design control environment and regulated product development lifecycle.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience, including both frontend and backend technologies.
• Expert proficiency in modern C++ (C++17 or later).
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Experience with modern frontend frameworks such as Svelte, React, Vue, or similar.
• Experience developing desktop applications using Qt
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and scalable application development.
• Experience building service-based systems and APIs utilizing gRPC and/or Protocol Buffers.
• Experience implementing reactive programming and state management patterns.
• Experience developing reusable software components, libraries, and frameworks.
• Strong understanding of source control and Agile development tools including Git, Jira, and Confluence.
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools while maintaining engineering rigor and software quality standards.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead technical initiatives within small, high-performing teams.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with rendering technologies, visualization systems, and 3D graphics pipelines.
• Strong understanding of linear algebra and 3D math concepts.
• Experience with algorithm development, image processing, or algorithm integration.
• Experience with build systems and toolchains, including CMake.
• Experience optimizing web application performance and responsiveness.
• Experience scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Experience in robotics, medical devices, imaging systems, or other regulated software environments.
• Experience leading architecture reviews, technical roadmaps, and engineering best practices.
