Original job description

LICT Corporation is seeking a hands-on Controller to oversee the accounting and financial reporting functions of its Kansas operations, including J.B.N. Telephone Company (JBN), Giant Communications, Inc. (Giant), and Haviland Telephone Company, doing business as Haviland Broadband (HBB). The Controller will be responsible for the integrity, timeliness, and consistency of accounting across the two subsidiary groups and will work closely with local operating leadership and LICT corporate finance.

The role is expected to be based primarily in the JBN/Giant office in Holton, Kansas. Regular on-site presence will also be required at the Haviland operations, anticipated to represent approximately 15% of the Controller's time. This is an operating-company finance leadership role suited for a CPA who is equally comfortable managing close and reporting processes, developing accounting staff, strengthening controls, supporting regulated telecom reporting, and partnering with business leaders on budgets, capital investment, and performance.

About the Kansas Operations

JBN and Haviland Broadband provide broadband and traditional voice services across 27 small towns and surrounding rural areas in Kansas. JBN operates principally in five counties in northeast Kansas, while Haviland operates in eight counties southwest of Wichita. Together, the two incumbent local exchange carriers serve approximately 4,500 broadband subscribers and 1,600 traditional telephone subscribers, with a growing majority of customers served over fiber-to-the-home networks.

Giant Communications, JBN's competitive affiliate and the Kansas operation's primary non-regulated services brand, provides broadband, video, wireless, cellular, and voice services in northeast Kansas and Topeka market, while Haviland Broadband provides managed services and cloud-based voice to the Wichita and south-central Kansas markets. Giant serves approximately 4,500 broadband subscribers and supports approximately 4,500 cloud-based voice seats, including a meaningful base of business and educational customers.

Both JBN and Haviland participate in the FCC's Enhanced Alternative Connect America Model (E-ACAM) universal service program and continue to invest in fiber-to-the-home and fixed wireless infrastructure. The Kansas operations also manage grant-funded and other broadband expansion projects, making disciplined capital accounting, regulatory compliance, internal controls, and accurate financial reporting central to this role.
