Responsibilities for this Position

Technologies that are so advanced they’re often classified. That’s what you’ll find at General Dynamics Mission Systems. Here you’ll lead amazing engineers as they invent the technologies, products and services that help our service members, intelligence analysts and first responders keep our nation safe. If you want the chance to lead, it’s time to bring your talent to General Dynamics Mission Systems.

We apply advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, AR/VR, Cloud Native and Quantum Physics to solve our customers’ missions in cyber, RF, undersea, interstellar space and everything in between.

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer on the Marion Radome Manufacturing Team, you’ll provide technical leadership for developing, qualifying and continually improving the processes used to build military fighter-jet radomes. You’ll translate complex engineering, customer and quality requirements into clear, controlled production methods, working closely with design engineering, operations, quality and other program partners to deliver safe, repeatable and cost-effective manufacturing processes.

We encourage you to apply if you have experience with:

  • Developing and maintaining manufacturing plans, process strategies, floor layouts, routings, work instructions, shop aids, tooling plans and operational sequences for new and existing products.
  • Interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and product requirements, and working with design and quality teams to resolve manufacturing questions and ensure requirements are correctly reflected in production documentation.
  • Improving manufacturability and cost by assessing materials, parts, fabrication methods, tooling, equipment capabilities, assembly sequences and inspection requirements.
  • Supporting new product introduction, production readiness, new-business assessments and quoting through process analysis, estimates, manufacturing risk identification and equipment or capital planning.
  • Planning and supporting equipment installation, process qualification and production qualification, including defining acceptance criteria, process controls and equipment calibration requirements.
  • Investigating production issues and leading structured root-cause analysis and corrective actions to address defects, rework, scrap, process variation, yield and cycle time.
  • Applying lean manufacturing, continuous-improvement and Six Sigma methods to improve process capability, efficiency and product quality.

What sets you apart:

  • Experience taking manufacturing processes from early planning through qualification, production launch and ongoing improvement.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional technical work, prioritize competing needs, communicate risks and drive issues to resolution.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools for reviewing or creating mechanical models and drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods, production equipment, quality controls, and applicable technical, government and industry standards.
  • Clear, disciplined written communication and the ability to produce accurate, usable production documentation.
  • A collaborative approach and interest in mentoring colleagues and sharing manufacturing expertise.
  • An interest in identifying responsible opportunities to apply AI, automation or data analysis to manufacturing engineering and continuous improvement.

Our Commitment to You:

  • An exciting career path with opportunities for continuous learning and development.
  • Research-oriented work alongside award-winning teams developing practical solutions for our nation’s security.
  • Flexible schedules with every other Friday off work, if desired (9/80 schedule).
  • Competitive benefits, including 401k matching, flex time off, paid parental leave, healthcare benefits, health and wellness programs, employee resource and social groups, and more.
