Job Description:

The Sr. Database Administrator is responsible for maintaining our database systems, ensuring they operate efficiently, securely, and reliably. They design and build databases, manage access and permissions, perform backups and recoveries, and troubleshoot any issues that arise. DBAs also work to optimize database performance and implement security measures to protect sensitive data.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Designing, creating, and configuring database structures to meet organizational needs, including schemas, tables, and indexes
• Monitoring database performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing optimizations to improve efficiency and speed
• Design, configure, implement, and administer all databases for the respective parties involved
• Develop and maintain complex models and logical database designs
• Identify and resolve all issues related to database systems to ensure that systems are online and without service interruption
• Build and manage the database disaster recovery and backup plan
• Implementing and managing access controls, permissions, and security protocols to protect data integrity and confidentiality
• Develop new and enhance existing standards, processes and procedures, and guidelines for database environments using industry experiences, best practices research, and business needs
• Analyze and report the performance of database operations against the key database performance metrics

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's of Science degree in Computer Science
• 10+ years post-graduate professional IT experience
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

Preferred:

• Proficient with relational databases (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL)

Skills

• Database Administration: Installation, configuration, patching, upgrading, and maintenance of Oracle databases.
• Database Backup and Recovery: RMAN, data guard, and other recovery solutions.
• Database Performance Tuning: SQL and PL/SQL query optimization, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Security Management: User access control, database auditing, and data encryption.
• SQL and PL/SQL: Proficiency in both languages for database manipulation and scripting.
• Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM): Familiarity with this management tool.
• Database Schema Design and Management: Creating and managing tables, indexes, views, etc.
• Cloud Databases: Experience with Oracle Cloud and other cloud platforms.
• Oracle RAC and ASM: Knowledge of these advanced features.
• Database Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving database issues.
• High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Experience with Data Guard and other solutions.
• Database Migration and Transformation: Experience with migrating databases between versions and platforms.
