Job Summary:

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

The Resilient ISR Capabilities organization in Poway, California, develops and integrates resilient, interoperable Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) mission capabilities for contested and dynamic operational environments. These capabilities span mission systems, systems-of-systems architectures, trusted multi-modal data fusion, tactical networks, datalinks, communications resilience, and autonomy.

The ISR Capability Project Engineer will lead integrated systems-of-systems development, including architecture definition, functional decomposition, mission-thread development, system integration, and delivery of operational ISR capabilities. This individual will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, program leadership, customers, and external partners to develop solutions that support air-domain, maritime and littoral, persistent multi-INT, distributed ISR, and ISR-enabled operational support missions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the architecture, definition, integration, verification, and deployment of complex ISR systems-of-systems.
  • Develop and maintain system-of-systems architectures, operational concepts, functional architectures, interface definitions, and mission-thread models.
  • Translate mission needs, operational concepts, and customer requirements into integrated technical solutions and executable engineering plans.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across systems engineering, software, hardware, sensors, communications, networking, cybersecurity, autonomy, and mission operations.
  • Drive end-to-end mission-thread development across task and orchestrate, collect and detect, correlate and fuse, distribute and share, and decide, direct, and employ functions.
  • Coordinate the integration of ISR capabilities, including radar, SIGINT/ESM, electro-optical/infrared, full-motion video, AIS/ADS-B, resilient positioning, navigation and timing, and other mission sensors.
  • Develop solutions for multi-source data correlation, tracking, fusion, dissemination, data assurance, provenance, and confidence management.
  • Lead integration of tactical networks, line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight communications, tactical data links, resilient networking, and cross-domain information exchange capabilities.
  • Support the development and execution of autonomy, artificial intelligence, and machine learning roadmaps for ISR mission applications.
  • Plan and lead system integration, test, demonstration, and evaluation activities.
  • Assess system performance, technical risks, dependencies, and integration challenges across the product and program portfolios.
  • Collaborate across the company and customer communities to define, capture, and execute ISR capability projects and programs.
  • Support program planning, cost and schedule development, technical reviews, proposal development, and customer engagements.
  • Communicate technical status, risks, opportunities, and recommendations to engineering leadership, program management, customers, and partners.
  • Maintain cognizance over engineering activities across assigned capability areas and promote the use of consistent systems engineering practices.
  • Travel approximately 20% to support customer engagements, integration activities, demonstrations, and program execution.
  • We recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply.
