Job Summary
Galapagos Federal Systems, LLC is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) to support the United States Space Force (USSF), Space Systems Command (SSC), and System Delta 81 (SYD 81) within the Operational Test and Training Infrastructure (OTTI) Integrated Program Office (IPO).
In this critical role, the Model-Based Systems Engineer will provide advanced systems engineering, technical analysis, and model-based engineering support for the development, acquisition, integration, testing, and sustainment of mission-critical space test and training capabilities. The position will contribute to the design, evaluation, and implementation of complex systems and architectures that enhance USSF operational readiness and mission effectiveness.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition programs, Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E), and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) initiatives. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in systems architecture, requirements development, system modeling, verification and validation, and technical integration, with the ability to collaborate effectively across Government, engineering, and program management teams.
Key Responsibilities
The MBSE will:
- Provide comprehensive systems engineering and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) support for the development, acquisition, integration, testing, fielding, and sustainment of USSF space test and training capabilities
- Conduct feasibility studies, concept exploration, and technical assessments to evaluate proposed system architectures, operational capabilities, and engineering solutions
- Develop and evaluate Design Reference Missions (DRMs), Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), and operational scenarios to support system design, capability development, and mission requirements
- Develop, analyze, validate, and manage system-level requirements, technical specifications, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs) throughout the system development lifecycle
- Apply MBSE methodologies and tools, including Cameo Systems Modeler and Systems Modeling Language (SysML), to develop, maintain, and analyze system models and architecture products
- Develop and maintain system architecture models, functional analyses, requirements traceability, and engineering documentation to support technical decision-making and program objectives
- Support system verification and validation activities, including development of verification plans, evaluation criteria, test requirements, and technical assessments
- Conduct engineering analysis to evaluate system performance, interoperability, technical risks, and compliance with established requirements and operational objectives
- Support the integration of space, ground, and supporting infrastructure systems to ensure compatibility, operational effectiveness, and mission readiness
- Provide technical expertise in space system architectures, satellite and ground segment design, sensor systems, communications, and space battle management and control capabilities
- Support Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) activities, including technical reviews, engineering assessments, test planning, and evaluation of emerging technologies
- Develop and maintain systems engineering artifacts consistent with applicable Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) and Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) processes
- Perform configuration management, engineering change analysis, and technical impact assessments to evaluate proposed system modifications and capability enhancements
- Coordinate with System Program Offices (SPOs), Program Management Offices (PMOs), Government stakeholders, and technical teams to support system development, capability delivery, and acquisition objectives
- Assess and align technical requirements, engineering activities, and program priorities with Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) processes supporting OTTI initiatives
- Support technical planning, program reviews, engineering briefings, and decision-support activities to communicate system performance, technical risks, and recommended solutions
- Provide engineering support for system deployment, operational integration, sustainment, and continuous improvement of space test and training materiel systems
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve technical challenges, manage system dependencies, and ensure alignment with USSF mission requirements
