Original job description

Funnel Leasing Inc., is hiring for a hands-on hiring a hands-on Manager, Software Engineering - Mobile Apps to lead our Living Operations team. The team builds and maintains Funnel’s Resident App, which guides residents through onboarding before move-in, supports them throughout their lease, and helps them navigate move-out. This role is remote and can be based anywhere in the U.S. You’ll spend approximately 60% of your time on hands-on engineering and 40% on people leadership. You’ll write and review production code, guide technical decisions, and manage and mentor a team of 3 to 5 engineers. We’re looking for a manager who has built white-label iOS and Android apps with React Native and Expo, integrated them with GraphQL APIs, and managed releases through both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The salary range for this role is: $150,000 - $170,000. Why Funnel? We are a 'work from anywhere' in the U.S. SaaS company that centers our services on the renter experience. We develop amazing software that has revolutionized the #proptech industry. And did we mention we have an amazing team that is on #FunnelFire!? Oh, did we forget to tell you we have unlimited PTO, benefits that begin on your first day of employment, P.I.N.K. core values that ROCK, and our team puts the FUN in Funnel!

Who is Funnel Leasing? Have you ever rented an apartment and wished the process could be better? At Funnel we do too. We know we need to make the process of renting an apartment as easy as purchasing socks on Amazon. We’ve created cloud-based marketing and leasing software that delivers the ultimate rental experience for everyone involved in the process. We’re in the process of transforming the real estate industry through cutting-edge technology built, sold, and supported by the most passionate people you’ll meet.

The Manager, Software Engineering - Mobile Apps leads a team of 3 to 5 engineers on the Living Operations team and owns the delivery and reliability of the Resident App across iOS and Android. This is a hands-on management role for someone who has built white-label mobile apps with React Native and Expo, shipped them through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, and supported them in production.

Roles and responsibilities

Lead the team’s day-to-day work on the Resident App and contribute directly to building and improving it.
Set clear expectations for each engineer, provide regular feedback, and support their professional growth.
Work with Product and Design to understand what residents and partners need, set priorities, and agree on what the team can deliver.
Oversee updates across partner-branded apps, from planning through launch. Keep partners and internal teams informed when plans or timelines change.
Take responsibility for the app’s reliability and the accuracy of the information residents see. When problems arise, coordinate the response and follow through until they’re resolved.
Manage relationships with third-party vendors whose services are part of the resident experience. Agree on responsibilities and timelines, and escalate issues when needed.
Create a culture of continuous improvement and learning
Foster collaboration within team and across the company
Performs other duties as assigned and modified at manager's discretion
Travel: <5%

Education, Work Experience, and Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including building and maintaining mobile apps in production.
2+ years in an engineering leadership role, such as Engineering Manager or Tech Lead, with experience leading and mentoring a small team.
Hands-on experience building iOS and Android apps with JavaScript, React, React Native, and Expo, including supporting multiple white-label apps from a shared codebase.
Experience managing releases through both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, including code signing, submissions, app review, and rollouts.
Experience integrating mobile apps with GraphQL APIs and developing backend services with Python and Django.
Experience using Datadog to monitor production systems and troubleshoot issues across mobile apps, backend services, and third-party integrations.

At Funnel, we are committed to building a proptech company that is as diverse as the multifamily industry we serve, and that means to not only live our inclusivity, but also to support and encourage it among all of society. If you are excited about this role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may just be the right candidate for this or other roles.
