Operator Slitter

Education & Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED preferred
• One (1)Year slitter experience preferred
• Three to six (3-6) months of on-the-job training required

Qualifications

• Dependability to be consistently at work and on time
• Reading and math skills, including knowledge of fractions and decimal computations
• Verbal/written comprehension skills
• Measuring skills using tape measure, micrometers, and/or calipers
• Operational knowledge of slitter machines and how to troubleshoot simple problems.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and guidelines
• A “Team” mentality
• Repetitive standing and/or bending capability during normal phase duties
• Heavy (25-75 lbs.) lifting capability during normal phase duties

Responsibilities

• Perform a safety evaluation of the assigned workstation and surrounding area
• Verify that steel coil, machine setup, and job order match prior to machine operation.
• Operate slitter machine using the push-button control panel.
• Manage production activity of slitter crew.
• Perform visual quality inspection of steel coil during the load and run process and the finished product.
• Record production information onto required forms.
• Perform workstation and surrounding area housekeeping tasks as required.
