Original job description
As part of our Human Resources team, you’ll help us attract, hire and retain the top talent we need to achieve our bold vision. You’ll play a vital role in defining, developing and maintaining the winning culture that empowers diverse individuals to work together and create the impossible. We’re seeking change leaders, talent strategists, employee advocates and culture architects to enable our teams, partners, and businesses to do and be their best. In this position... As Director, Global Mobility, you will set the strategy and lead the evolution of Ford’s global mobility and relocation programs. This role enables domestic and international talent movement - through scalable, compliant, data-informed solutions. You will advise senior leaders on how mobility can enable business growth, workforce planning, talent deployment, market expansion, and organizational change while delivering a consistent employee experience. What you'll do... Lead Ford’s global mobility and relocation strategy, policies, and operations to support workforce planning, talent acquisition, business growth, and global talent deployment. Manage and develop a high-performing global mobility team; advise senior HR and business leaders on mobility, international hiring, location strategy, and emerging trends; and partner across HR, Legal, Finance, Tax, Payroll, Talent Acquisition, Technology, and external providers. Own global mobility programs - including domestic and international relocations, assignments, permanent transfers, immigration, expatriate compensation and benefits, tax equalization, payroll coordination, repatriation, and employee support - ensuring consistent, compliant, equitable, and cost-effective delivery. Establish governance, controls, standards, policies, procedures, escalation frameworks, reporting, and data-management practices that balance employee experience, compliance, service quality, and business needs. Oversee vendor strategy, RFPs, contracts, implementation, SLAs, performance management, and integrated service delivery. Drive continuous improvement through technology, automation, responsible AI, analytics, benchmarking, and process simplification. Manage budgets, forecasts, cost projections, and risk mitigation; monitor program metrics and provide executive visibility into performance, trends, ROI, and corrective actions. Lead mobility-related strategic projects, stakeholder communications, and change management while ensuring accurate, confidential records and strong talent management within the mobility function.
You'll have...
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree (preferred) in Human Resources, International Business, Business Administration, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in global mobility, relocation, immigration, international assignments, workforce mobility, or a closely related field within a complex multinational organization.
- Significant leadership experience with accountability for global programs, teams, budgets, vendors, and transformation initiatives.
- Demonstrated success evolving mobility functions from transactional service delivery to strategic business enablers supporting hiring, retention, workforce planning, talent deployment, and location strategy.
- Deep knowledge of global mobility and relocation program design, policy governance, vendor ecosystems, risk management, and cross-border employee movement.
- Experience designing and implementing global programs and policies while balancing enterprise consistency with local regulatory and market requirements.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, RFPs, contracts, vendor performance, and cost optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to use analytics, benchmarking, and business insights to influence strategy and senior-level decisions.
- Strong executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex mobility issues into clear business implications and recommendations.
- Proven ability to lead through ambiguity and change while managing multiple complex, global initiatives.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Senior Professional in Human Resources (PHR) (Preferred)
- Certified Relocation Professional (Preferred)
