Original job description

We made history and now we work to transform the future – for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.

In this position...

We bring engineering ideas to life. Ford’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) team creates innovative solutions to make the driving experience safer, easier, and more enjoyable for our customers. The Virtual Verification and Validation team evaluates the functionality and performance of ADAS features like Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Cross Traffic Alert, and Surround View Camera via Hardware in the Loop (HIL) and Vehicle in the Loop (VIL) testing. The team integrates models, hardware and software to build a virtual representation of the complete test vehicle, runs the virtual vehicle through thousands of scenarios, and identifies issues in embedded software. We are seeking professionals with a passion for bringing innovative ideas to life who can contribute to our efforts in the development of new features, sensors, ECUs, models and software. This position focuses on development of ADAS feature test tools, analysis methods along with test bench architecture and hardware development that enable these tools and methods.

What you'll do...

Work as an individual contributor on an agile test team, developing and proving out test tools, automation, analysis methods, and supporting software testing.

Responsible for developing and bringing up test solutions, in order to perform ADAS features validation.

Develop and integrate software and hardware solutions to improve virtual vehicle test environment for testing of new and existing ADAS features.

Develop and integrate camera, radar, and ultrasonic sensor stimulation and simulation tools for testing of new and existing ADAS features.

Analyze test bench functionality to correlate to vehicle behavior in real world scenarios.

Develop image analysis tools to assess image content in ADAS and infotainment image pipeline.

Prove out test tools and test benches by performing automated and manual test execution and results analysis.

Develop tooling for automated generation of executable test cases from Gherkin scenarios.

Develop library of test cases to validate system function of ADAS ECU, sensors, and software.

Support test execution and issue debugging to verify quality of tools and test cases.

Collaborate cross-functionally with technical specialists, product owner, developers, simulation, HIL test and vehicle test teams to establish tools and test procedures to reduce dependency on vehicle level testing.

Grow and demonstrate technical leadership amongst a team of highly energized and collaborative peers in a fast-paced environment.

You'll have...

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or related field

2+ years of experience in integration and testing of automotive software in a HiL environment

2+ years of experience in test tool development or software development

Experience with Python for test automation.

Experience working with embedded software systems, launching and supporting software for hardware products.

Even better, you may have...

Master’s degree in Electrical, Computer Science, Mechanical, System Engineering or related field.

2+ years of experience in integration and testing of ADAS software and sensors in a HiL environment

Experience designing and building HIL (IPG, Vector, NI, dSPACE) test systems for ADAS development and validation.

Experience with software development for image analysis.

Experience with Tracetronic ecu.test and test.guide software.

Experience with ADAS and/or vehicle dynamics simulation tools (CarSim, CarMaker, monoDrive, Unreal, etc.).

Experience working with Github, Jenkins and related build and version control tools.

Understanding of various embedded software communication protocols such as CAN, UDS, SOME/IP, UDP, XCP

Experience working in an Agile or V-Cycle software development environment.

Initiative, resilience, a strong work ethic and a desire for continuous learning

Must be skilled at working in large team environments and interfacing with technical experts

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home? Will your career be a deep dive into what you love, or a series of new teams and new skills? Will you be a leader, a changemaker, a technical expert, a culture builder…or all of the above? No matter what you choose, we offer a work life that works for you, including:

Immediate medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage
Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and more
Family building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments, and more
Vehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leases
Tuition assistance
Established and active employee resource groups
Paid time off for individual and team community service
A generous schedule of paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day
Paid time off and the option to purchase additional vacation time.

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $99,600-$166,600.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
