Original job description

Own the integrity of Flywheel's reserves data and build the tools that turn it into better development and planning decisions.

Why this role matters

Reserves are the foundation of how Flywheel values its assets, plans development and reports to auditors, lenders and investors. If the data is not accurate, consistent and auditable, every decision built on it is weaker. This role makes sure it is, and keeps raising the bar.

The Reserves & Planning Analyst is a key technical integrator across reserves, planning and asset development. You will own reserves data QC and reporting workflows across Aries and other systems, keep reserves, planning and operational data aligned, and lead third-party reserves audits. You will partner closely with asset development, operations, finance, accounting, land and outside auditors, and build modeling, automation and visualization tools that deliver accurate, actionable insight. The role offers room to grow into deeper technical, economic and engineering work.

Location: Oklahoma City, OK

Schedule: Full-time

Department: Reserves & Planning

What you'll own

Reserves Data Management and Integrity

  • Manage reserves data integrity, QC and reporting workflows across Aries and other source systems
  • Lead and support third-party reserves audits and prepare technical documentation for auditors and leadership
  • Maintain detailed audit trails, change logs and query documentation so every result is repeatable and auditable

Reporting and Analysis

  • Review and reconcile auditor data to internal views, building analytical and visualization tools to assess accuracy and flag material variances
  • Develop tools that pull actuals from accounting, finance, marketing and operations systems and transform them into Aries-ready formats
  • Build and maintain Power BI, Spotfire and Excel tools for reserves tracking and variance analysis, clearly communicating the key drivers
  • Apply advanced Aries and analytics skills to support deeper technical, economic and planning analysis

Risk, Compliance and Data Governance

  • Manage data integrity with emphasis on production accuracy, ownership completeness and audit readiness
  • Serve as the data governance lead across reserves, planning and asset development by enforcing standards, validation checks and documentation
  • Develop data automation, standardized templates and repeatable workflows for reserves reporting and audits
  • Standardize reserves evaluation workflows across assets for consistency and transparency
  • Work with Asset Development, Planning and Operations to assess the feasibility, risks and benefits of new tools, methods and industry best practices

Process Improvement and Standardization

  • Continuously improve reserves and planning workflows through automation, system integration and better analytical tools
  • Partner with other teams on modeling for capacity constraints, development timing, midstream and infrastructure as needed
  • Track industry trends and evaluate their impact on asset performance and reserves methodologies

Qualifications

What you bring

Must have

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

• 5+ years of upstream oil and gas experience in reserves, planning, or asset development analysis

• Hands-on experience with Aries (or a comparable reserves and economics platform)

• Working SQL skills for querying and reconciling large datasets

• Experience building dashboards and analysis in Power BI or Spotfire, plus advanced Excel

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to document work so others can repeat and audit it

Bonus points

• Experience supporting third-party reserves audits and SEC reserves reporting

• Experience with production, ownership and accounting data in an operated E&P company

• Scripting or automation experience (for example Python)

• Experience across multiple basins or after acquisitions

What success looks like

• First 30 days: Learn the reserves process, the Aries database and the people across asset development, planning and accounting. Map the current QC and reporting workflow.

• First 90 days: Own reserves data QC for a reporting cycle and deliver your first reconciliation and variance dashboard.

• First year: Lead a third-party reserves audit with documented, repeatable workflows, and have at least one manual reserves process automated.

How we work: 100% Awesome Teammates

High-performing, self-directed teams made up of 100% awesome teammates: people who are very good at their jobs and who live our core behaviors every day. Every new hire should raise our ability to reach our goals, so we are ridiculously selective about who joins us.

• Do the Right Thing. Responsible development, honest feedback and doing what we said we would. In this role: Report the numbers as they are, document every change, and flag a variance even when it is inconvenient.

• Do it as a Team. No silos. Information moves between teams as freely as it does within one. In this role: Bring asset development, operations, finance, accounting, land and the auditors onto the same set of numbers.

• Get Results. Disciplined execution and value creation. We measure ourselves by outcomes. In this role: Clean audits, reconciled reserves and forecasts, and tools that leadership uses to make decisions.

Is this you?

Successful Flywheelers are hungry, humble and people smart.

• Hungry: You see a manual workflow and want to automate it, and you keep asking what is really driving the variance.

• Humble: You document your work so anyone can check it, and you welcome it when someone finds an error.

• People Smart: You can explain a reserves variance to an engineer, an accountant and an auditor in terms each of them can act on.
