Job description
Position: Sr. HVAC/R Technician
Location: Charleston, SC
Salary: $25.00-55.00/hr
Position Summary
The Senior HVAC/R Technician serves as the technical lead and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for HVAC, refrigeration, and critical temperature-controlled systems. This role is responsible for maintaining system reliability, preventing temperature excursions, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, leading installations and projects, and supporting compliance in a regulated facility environment. Availability to respond to equipment emergencies is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC/R and refrigeration systems.
- Monitor and maintain critical equipment including air handlers, exhaust fans, refrigerators, freezers, and stability chambers.
- Serve as the HVAC/R SME and point of contact in the absence of the Facilities Manager.
- Assist with scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring maintenance activities.
- Develop and update maintenance procedures, PM checklists, and work instructions.
- Lead equipment installations, facility improvement projects, and contractor coordination.
- Maintain spare parts inventory and document all work in the maintenance management system.
- Support audits, compliance efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with other Facilities team members and trades to support site operations.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of industrial or commercial HVAC/R experience.
- EPA Section 608 Certification required.
- Refrigeration License required.
- High School Diploma, Technical School Certificate, Military Technical Training, or Associate Degree.
- Strong troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance experience.
- Pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing experience preferred.
