Company Overview

Docusign brings agreements to life. More than 1.8 million customers and more than a billion people in over 180 countries use Docusign solutions to accelerate the process of doing business and simplify people's lives. With intelligent agreement management, Docusign unleashes business-critical data that is trapped inside of documents. Until now, these were disconnected from business systems of record, costing businesses time, money, and opportunity. Using the Docusign AI-native IAM platform, companies can create, commit, and manage agreements with solutions created by the #1 company in e-signature and contract lifecycle management (CLM).

What you'll do

The Software Engineer Intern will join the Orchestration organization on the AI Assisted Review team in Seattle to build agentic tools that enhance our contract redlining assistant, which lives in a Microsoft Word plugin and integrates with other Docusign surfaces such as Agreement Manager, Agreement Desk, and CLM. The intern will help design and implement features that pull contextual signals from these surfaces to improve how users analyze and redline contracts before signing, contributing to knowledge sharing across the contract lifecycle. This work will support leveraging Docusign's executed contract repository to learn negotiation patterns for each customer and accelerate negotiations, strengthening our competitive advantage in this space. This is an internship role for 3.5 months of duration. This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Sr. Manager, Machine Learning. Responsibility

  • Collaborate with the AI Assisted Review team to design and implement agentic tools that support the contract redlining assistant in the Word plugin

  • Build and maintain a clear project plan for the internship, including defining milestones and deliverables
  • Create, manage, and track work using Jira tickets, keeping status and documentation up to date
  • Write clean, maintainable code in languages and frameworks such as C#, React, and Python
  • Participate in code reviews with teammates, incorporating feedback to improve code quality and reliability
  • Develop and run tests to validate functionality, performance, and robustness of new features
  • Debug issues across the stack (Word plugin, backend services, integrations) in collaboration with the team
  • Release changes behind appropriate feature flags using tools such as Azure DevOps and Optimizely, following team deployment and rollback practices
  • Use LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agentic tools in a safe, responsible way to improve contract analysis and user experience
  • Prepare and deliver a final presentation to the Orchestration organization summarizing the project, technical design, results, and lessons learned
