Engineer – Development

Engineer -- Development positions offered by First Solar, Inc. (Perrysburg , Ohio). Responsible for the development of mechanical design for new PV modules for minimum material usage for defined load cases, and evaluation of designs against defined requirements. Plan, execute and characterize development engineering experiments in the laboratory and manufacturing environment. Apply statistical and engineering methods to optimize organizational effectiveness. Improve methods for use by others. Minimum Requirements : • Requires a bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and 5 years of experience in development of advanced finite analysis modeling. • In lieu of a bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in the aforementioned fields and 5 years of experience as stated, employer will accept a master's or foreign equivalent degree in the aforementioned fields and 3 years of experience as stated. • All stated experience must include each of the following: • Structural sizing of mechanical components, including static load and fatigue analysis; • Meshing and defeaturing, for deflection and stress analysis in FEA software such as ANSYS; • Stress-strain models and fatigue theories for nonlinear materials; and • Plasticity and Visco elastic material models for FEA simulation. Must also have 2 years of experience in each of the following: • FEA of mechanical assembly methods, including press-fit and pre-tensioned fasteners; and • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
