What You’ll Be Doing…
The Senior Business Intelligence Architect is a hands-on technical leader who will shape Fenner’s data and analytics strategy and help reinforce the 3 pillars of Fenner’s Digital Transformation – Tools+Data+People. This role will turn complex business challenges into scalable solutions using Azure, Databricks, Power BI, automation, and AI, while setting technical direction, strengthening data governance, and coaching the BI team.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Data Architecture and Strategy
- Lead the design and evolution of Fenner’s enterprise BI, data warehouse, and analytics architecture.
- Develop scalable architecture that supports structured and unstructured data from multiple business systems.
- Establish technical roadmaps, architecture standards, and design patterns for data ingestion, transformation, storage, modeling, and visualization.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve scalability, reliability, security, and business value.
- Ensure analytics architecture aligns with broader IT, cybersecurity, and business strategies.
Data Engineering and Platform Management
- Provide technical oversight for the daily operation, performance, and reliability of the Fenner Data Warehouse and analytics ecosystem.
- Architect and develop robust data pipelines that integrate ERP, manufacturing, financial, commercial, supply chain, and other enterprise data sources.
- Design, optimize, and govern ETL and ELT processes across Azure, Databricks, SQL Server, and related platforms.
- Lead performance tuning, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and platform optimization.
- Implement monitoring and controls that support accurate, complete, secure, and timely data delivery.
Data Modeling and Analytics Solutions
- Design dimensional, semantic, and enterprise data models that provide consistent definitions and high-performance analytics.
- Translate complex business needs into technical requirements, solution designs, and actionable implementation plans.
- Lead the development of advanced reports, dashboards, data products, and self-service analytics capabilities.
- Establish standards for Power BI development, including data models, DAX, security, performance, usability, and deployment.
- Ensure analytics solutions deliver clear, meaningful, and actionable business insights.
Data Governance, Quality, and Security
- Partner with business and technology leaders to establish data ownership, stewardship, governance, and accountability.
- Define and enforce standards for data quality, documentation, lineage, access, retention, and security.
- Ensure compliance with internal requirements, applicable regulations, and data-protection practices.
- Develop testing and validation frameworks that support reliable and consistent analytics solutions.
- Ensure adherence to configuration management, change control, release management, and development standards.
Technical Leadership and Mentorship
- Serve as a senior technical resource for BI Analysts, data professionals, application teams, and business users.
- Mentor team members in data modeling, pipeline development, visualization, testing, documentation, and BI best practices.
- Lead architecture reviews and provide guidance on complex technical and functional decisions.
- Promote consistent development practices, reusable solutions, and knowledge sharing across the organization.
- Build trust in data and analytics by communicating technical concepts clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
Digital Transformation
- Be a force for change, driving data elements of Fenner's Digital Transformation initiative.
- Partner with business leaders to understand, challenge, and redesign business processes, not simply automate the way they work today.
- Identify opportunities to use data, analytics, automation, AI, and modern digital technologies to improve business performance.
- Turn business problems into practical digital solutions, from idea and architecture through implementation and adoption.
- Act as a bridge between business and technology, helping users understand what is possible and translating opportunities into actionable solutions.
- Champion self-service analytics and data-driven decision-making, while maintaining appropriate data architecture, governance, and standards.
- Help drive adoption of new technologies by educating, demonstrating, prototyping, and influencing, not simply delivering technical solutions.
- Foster a culture of curiosity, experimentation, and continuous improvement around data and digital technology.
Business Partnership and Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Commercial, Quality, HR, and other functions to understand business processes and analytics needs.
- Identify opportunities to improve data capture, automate manual processes, and accelerate access to actionable information.
- Lead discovery sessions and translate business challenges into prioritized analytics use cases.
- Measure the effectiveness and adoption of BI solutions and recommend opportunities for improvement.
- Support Lean Continuous Improvement through data-driven analysis and scalable digital solutions.
General
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Model and uphold Fenner Precision Polymers’ Values and Behaviors at all times.
