Application Developer Do you have a passion for emerging technologies and a desire to shape the future of AI-powered business solutions? Are you self-driven and energized by solving complex problems in a fast-paced, innovation-focused environment? We are seeking a talented Application Developer to join our AI Engineering team and help transform how technology delivers value across our financial services organization. In this role, you will build AI-powered applications, agents, intelligent automation solutions, and foundational platform capabilities. You'll collaborate with experienced professionals who are passionate about innovation, committed to continuous learning, and focused on delivering meaningful business results from our West Des Moines corporate headquarters. Who is Farm Bureau Financial Services? At Farm Bureau Financial Services, we make insurance simple so our client/members can feel confident knowing their family, home, cars and other property are protected. We value a culture where integrity, teamwork, passion, service, leadership and accountability are at the heart of every decision we make and every action we take. We’re proud of our more than 80-year commitment to protecting the livelihoods and futures of our client/members and creating an atmosphere where our employees thrive.

What You’ll Do:

Develop and maintain AI solutions across low-code platforms, integrated development environments, and modern code-based delivery pipelines.
Evaluate and document new AI-related technologies and features
Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and keep them informed of productivity objectives, goals and concerns.
Provide ongoing support and resolution of business problems and analyze and correct system failures.
Continuous learning about rapidly changing technology, and the ability to apply those learnings to make improvements that add value.

What it takes to join our team:

Associate degree or equivalent, plus 1-5 years relevant experience. We are also interested in looking at less experienced, but highly technical individuals for this role.
High competence with at least one widely used programming language
Preferred: Experience with enterprise AI platforms
Preferred: Experience with modern delivery pipelines and cloud environments
Knowledge of .NET, C#, XML, SQL required. ETL and Informatica skills are a plus.
Must always have a customer service attitude in order to develop strong relationships with internal and external customers.
Strong leadership skills and initiative to research questions and concerns.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, be results oriented, and adjust to changing priorities while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor.
Customer focused mindset with strong analytical, problem solving and system design skills sets.
Strong communication skills both oral and written in both technical and non-technical settings.
Ability to work in person from our office in West Des Moines, Iowa.

What We Offer You When you’re on our team, you get more than a great paycheck. You’ll hear about career development and educational opportunities, an enhanced 401K with a match, low cost health, dental, and vision benefits, life and disability insurance options, and paid time off, including holidays, volunteer time, and teams who know how to have fun. Add to that an onsite wellness facility with fitness classes and programs, a daycare center, a cafeteria, and even an onsite medical clinic. Farm Bureau…. where the grass really IS greener! Work Authorization/Sponsorship: At this time, we are not considering candidates that need any type of immigration sponsorship now or in the future, such as additional or permanent work authorization. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis. We are not able to sponsor now or in the future, or take over sponsorship of, an employment visa or work authorization for this role. For example, we are not considering candidates with OPT status.
