Estimator

Fann Contracting, Inc. | Prescott, AZ | Full-Time Fann Contracting, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented, motivated Estimator to join our team. We are looking for an experienced estimator who excels in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for heavy civil and highway construction projects. The estimator will handle reviewing project plans and specifications carefully, performing detailed quantity takeoffs, proactively evaluating project costs and construction cost trends, coordinating subcontractor and supplier quotes, and carefully reviewing all bid information prior to submission.

Our Work & Clients Fann specializes in highways and roads, mass excavation and grading, rock excavation and handling, underground utilities, trucking, aggregate crushing, asphalt paving, and asphalt mix manufacturing. Many of our clients include ADOT, FAA, FHWA, NPS, BIA, cities, counties, private residential developments, and private commercial clients throughout Arizona.

Key Responsibilities

• Review plans, specifications, addenda, and bid requirements; identify scope gaps, discrepancies, and project risks.
• Perform and verify detailed quantity takeoffs and develop estimates for labor, equipment, materials, and subcontracted work.
• Solicit, compare, and level supplier and subcontractor quotes to confirm complete scope coverage.
• Evaluate construction methods, production rates, schedules, and current market pricing.
• Prepare and review bid proposals for accuracy and completeness before submission.
• Coordinate with estimating, project management, and field personnel; assist with post-award estimate handoffs.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of heavy civil construction experience, including at least 5 years in estimating.
• Strong plan-reading, quantity takeoff, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with HCSS HeavyBid preferred.
• Experience with ADOT/highway, asphalt paving, excavation, or underground utility work is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field - or equivalent practical experience.
