Mobile Engineer (React Native)

Role Overview As a Mobile Engineer at Fanfix, you'll design, develop, and maintain scalable mobile applications using React Native and Expo. Working closely with product, design, and backend teams, you'll help deliver fast, reliable, and visually polished experiences across iOS and Android.

With experience in TypeScript, NativeWind, and modern mobile development practices, you'll contribute to code quality, maintainability, and app performance while helping build features that enhance the creator and fan experience. This role is ideal for a proactive engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, takes ownership of their work, and thrives in a fast-paced startup environment.

Requirements

• React Native: Professional experience developing cross-platform mobile applications using React Native, including navigation, UI components, and performance optimization.
• Expo & EAS: Experience with the Expo SDK and familiarity with EAS Build, Submit, and Update workflows.
• TypeScript: Working knowledge of TypeScript and the ability to write clean, maintainable, and type-safe code.
• UI Frameworks: Familiarity with modern React Native UI frameworks and styling tools, such as NativeWind and shadcn/ui.
• Mobile Performance: Understanding of mobile app performance fundamentals, including startup time, rendering efficiency, and responsiveness.
• API Integration: Experience integrating GraphQL or REST APIs using tools such as React Query or Apollo Client.
• Cross-Platform Development: Understanding of iOS and Android development considerations, platform-specific configurations, and third-party SDK integrations.
• Testing: Experience writing unit and component tests using Jest and React Native Testing Library; familiarity with end-to-end testing tools such as Detox or Maestro is a plus.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to implement designs accurately and account for platform-specific behavior, UI consistency, and application state.
• Initiative: Self-motivated and able to manage assigned projects, troubleshoot issues, and deliver features with guidance when needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Design Systems: Experience working with shared UI components or design systems, including tools such as NativeWind, shadcn/ui, or Radix primitives.
• App Distribution: Familiarity with TestFlight, Google Play Console, and mobile app release processes.
• CI/CD Experience: Basic understanding of GitHub Actions, EAS Build pipelines, and automated deployment workflows.
• Feature Flags & Analytics: Familiarity with analytics and feature management tools such as PostHog or LaunchDarkly.
• Observability: Experience using Sentry, Expo Application Services, or similar tools to monitor app performance and troubleshoot issues.
• Monorepo Development: Familiarity with monorepo environments, particularly Turborepo, shared packages, and reusable utilities.
• Problem Solving: Ability to identify technical issues, investigate root causes, and recommend practical solutions.
• Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving priorities and product requirements.

Responsibilities

• Application Development: Build, test, and maintain mobile app features that deliver reliable performance and a high-quality user experience.
• Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to translate requirements and designs into functional mobile experiences.
• Testing & Quality: Write and maintain unit and integration tests to support application stability and code quality.
• Performance Optimization: Identify and address performance issues to improve app responsiveness, reliability, and usability.
• Feature Ownership: Take responsibility for assigned features from development through testing, release, and ongoing maintenance.
• Technical Contributions: Participate in code reviews, contribute to technical discussions, and help improve development practices and application architecture.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay current with React Native and Expo developments and contribute ideas for improving the mobile application and engineering workflows.
