Duties and Responsibilities-

• Assisting students in achieving academic success
• Working with students who may be aggressive or disruptive in class
• Behavior support includes physical management and monitoring (training provided upon hire)
• Social integration
• Consultation and collaboration with special education teachers and related service staff.

General Outlook

Special education paraprofessionals assist students with special needs under the direction of a licensed teacher. The special education paraprofessional assists the teacher in general daily classroom activities, helps special needs students, and cares for their physical, emotional health and safety, affirming their abilities, and striving to promote dignity in all relationships. Responsibilities may include assisting teachers to provide support to students in the areas of academic assistance, physical assistance, behavior monitoring, and data collection.
