Material Yard Worker – $20/hr

Location: Clackamas, OR Pay: $20.00/hour Shift: Day Shift

A local metal processing company is seeking a dependable and hardworking Material Yard Worker to join their team. This position involves working outdoors, sorting and processing scrap metals, operating forklifts and equipment, and assisting with cutting and fabrication tasks.

Job Description

The Material Yard Worker is responsible for safely handling, sorting, and processing scrap metal materials in an outdoor industrial environment. This role requires hands-on experience operating a sit-down forklift, using hand and power tools, and working around heavy machinery. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-conscious, and comfortable performing physically demanding work in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Sort, organize, and process scrap metals in an outdoor yard environment

• Safely operate a standard sit-down forklift and small excavators as assigned

• Work at saw and shear stations to cut and process metal materials

• Operate hand and power tools to assist with metal processing

• Use equipment such as band saws, hydraulic shears, and cutting torches as trained and authorized

• Read tape measures and perform accurate measurements

• Assist with loading, unloading, and moving materials throughout the yard

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

• Follow all company safety policies and equipment operating procedures

Experience & Qualifications

• Previous sit-down forklift experience

• Knowledge of metal processing, welding, or fabrication preferred

• Experience using hand and power tools

• Ability to accurately read a tape measure

• Experience operating small excavators or industrial cutting equipment is a plus

• Strong work ethic, reliability, and consistent attendance

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Ability to periodically lift up to 50 lbs.

• Ability to push or pull up to 100 lbs. with appropriate assistance or equipment

• Commitment to workplace safety and proper equipment operation

Work Schedule

Monday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Tuesday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Saturday: Off Sunday: Off
