Bag Machine Operator-Nights

Express Employment Professionals is now hiring for a Bag Machine Operator to work 7pm-7am for a Longview manufacturing company.

Job Summary:

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of bag-making and converting equipment. Convert extruded plastic film rolls into finished bag products according to customer specifications, quality standards, and production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Machine Setup & Adjustments: o Set up and calibrate bag machines, seal bars, unwinds, and cutting dies per work orders. o Thread film through the machine and adjust tension, temperature, speed, and seal pressure.
• Production & Monitoring: o Run bag-making equipment continuously while monitoring output quality, seal integrity, and dimensions. o Perform roll changes and load raw materials or cardboard cores as needed.
• Quality Control: o Inspect finished bags for defects (e.g., weak seals, misaligned print, incorrect sizing). o Conduct regular sample testing and record production data, scrap counts, and downtime logs.
• Maintenance & Troubleshooting: o Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, or setup issues during a run to minimize waste. o Perform routine preventive maintenance and keep machinery clean.
• Safety & Compliance: o Follow plant safety protocols (Lockout/Tagout, PPE) and maintain a clean 5S/organized work area. Qualifications & Skills
• Experience: High school diploma or GED; 1+ years of machine operating experience in a converting or blown film extrusion environment preferred.
• Technical Skills: Mechanical aptitude, ability to read tape measures/calipers, and skill in troubleshooting machine or film feed issues.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long shifts (e.g., 12-hour shifts), bend, and safely lift up to 50 lbs.
