Experienced Accountant

Contract Opportunity | Southwest Oklahoma City, OK Pay Rate: $30–$35/hour | 1–2 Month Contract

We are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant for a contract opportunity with a well-established organization located in the southwest Oklahoma City metro area.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with a strong background in general accounting, auditing, cost allocations, and general ledger management. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, advanced Excel proficiency, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, reports, and supporting documentation.

• Maintain and review general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and proper account classification.

• Perform account reconciliations and investigate financial discrepancies.

• Manage cost allocations and expense distributions across departments, projects, or business units.

• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.

• Analyze financial data and generate reports for leadership review.

• Support budgeting and forecasting activities.

• Prepare, review, and process journal entries.

• Assist with internal and external audits, including preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation.

• Review financial transactions and ensure compliance with GAAP, accounting standards, and internal controls.

• Utilize Excel extensively for reporting, tracking, reconciliations, and financial analysis.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

• 3+ years of accounting experience required.

• Previous auditing experience required.

• Strong experience with general ledger accounting and account reconciliations.

• Experience with cost allocations and expense distribution.

• Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required, including formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial reporting functions.

• Experience with accounting software and ERP systems preferred.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritize multiple tasks.

• Excellent communication and professionalism.
